Amanda Siepiola is Second Grade teacher in Washington DC. She earned a Distinguished Fulbright Award in Teaching where she conducted research about constructivism and play in Finland. She has presented her research about educational larp (live action role-playing) around Washington DC, at the Living Games Conference, and at the Nordic Larp Conference. She has also served as an AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer and City Year Corps member. She holds an MAT degree in Elementary Education from American University and a BA degree in History from Hamilton College.
I want to teach the way Bruce Springsteen performs. This thought struck me as I stood in the HK Arena in Turku, Finland two years ago. I’d been to more than ten shows, but hadn’t thought of Springsteen as an inspirational figure in my career; I was just a super fan.
