Sally Payne has been working as a paediatric occupational therapist in the West Midlands for more than 20 years. She has a particular interest in young people with dyspraxia/DCD and undertook a study to explore the lived experience of teenagers with the condition for her PhD (completed in 2015 at Coventry University). Sally is a former chair and current trustee of the Dyspraxia Foundation. She is also a specialist advisor to the CBeebies programme Tree Fu Tom.
As an occupational therapist I have worked with many young people with dyspraxia, as well as their parents and teachers, over the course of my career. Here I draw on my experience to identify the tools and strategies that I believe are most effective in unlocking the potential of Primary school students with developmental coordination difficulties.
