Sally Rix is in the second year of a PhD in Education, researching how SOLEs transfer into the English secondary school context. Prior to this she was a History teacher for eight years. Up until a year ago I was a History teacher, a job I adored. I know this is preaching to the converted, but working with teenagers is just the most interesting, funny and challenging way to spend your time,and I absolutely loved it. However (and I doubt this is particularly surprising to anyone reading), I had grown increasingly frustrated with our system of education.
