Global creativity-events organisation WOW Talks are encouraging schools to get their female students involved with ‘WOW Talks // Women in Tech’. Taking place at London’s Royal Geographical Society on Tuesday 20th September, this free event will expose learners to some of the most exciting careers of the future by bringing together inspiring female tech entrepreneurs and trailblazers. The speakers will share their very personal stories of what inspired them to pursue a career in tech, how they got to where they are today, the challenges they faced on the way and their WOW (Words of Wisdom), all in seven minute sessions. As is standard for WOW Talks, there will also be entertaining live performances intertwined throughout.

Online resource experts Britannica are working with schools across the UK to support students in becoming good and knowledgeable global citizens. Britannica Digital Learning’s content is all editorially checked to ensure all articles and images are age-appropriate, and teachers can be confident that students are using a reliable safe resource with full citation information included.

Bett Awards partners i2i Events Group and BESA (The British Educational Suppliers Association) have announced the launch of the education sector’s 20th annual Bett Awards. This ceremony brings together developers, suppliers and educational practitioners each year to recognise, reward and celebrate ICT excellence in the education sector. The 2017 awards introduce three new categories: ‘Best Education Support Resource for Parents/Home Learning’, ‘Edtech Start-up company of the Year’ and ‘Higher Education Digital Services'.

Sports Day is one of the most anticipated days of Primary school, giving us fond memories of hot weather and a whole day of outdoor activities. Very few would associate Sports Day with a Maths lessons... until now! Pupils have the chance to think about the Maths in every aspect of life, and Sports Day is no exception.

Engaging the most difficult children is a difficult job for any teacher. However, by using technology, it can aid in engaging the reluctant learners and delivering an outstanding lesson to help them to progress.

Data solutions experts SISRA Ltd are running nationwide events designed to provide data managers, exams officers and other support staff with the opportunity to get together on a termly basis to discuss important changes, to network and to seek advice. DataMeets are free regional sessions hosted in SISRA Schools across England. Those looking to attend are not required to be SISRA customers.

The BBC micro:bit, the pocket sized coding device created by the BBC and 29 partner organisations, is now available for the public to purchase through selected distributors and partner organisations. This is set to drastically increase the use of the device in schools and homes across the UK and play a fundamental role in helping to bridge the UK digital skills gap as the nation gets coding.

A Levels students across the country are being encouraged to submit their questions for Hay Levels Live, an education panel that is part of Hay Festival (26th May – 5th June). Kicking off on Friday 27 May, this is a new initiative offering Sixth Form students the chance to quiz distinguished speakers live at Hay Festival 2016 and online. Questions on Physics, Maths, Biology, Tudor history and Shakespeare can be submitted online now at the Hay Levels Live website, or through Twitter using @HayFestival / #HayLevels, before the experts take to the stage to offer their answers.  

On Friday 28th October, Twitter will host the Digital Citizenship Summit, a major gathering of organizations, industry, parenting experts, students, and more. The event will bring together new, well-known, and unexpected voices from a wide variety of backgrounds for a fast-paced and energetic mix of presentations, panels, videos, and awards. The day will be live-streamed to a large global audience, and seeks to broaden the appeal and accessibility to digital citizenship and media literacy.
