I ask my friends “How are you feeling?” almost everyday. Not because I have to, but because I need to! Our lives are busy, complex and difficult, and to pass our friends by without a simple question would be unfriendly!

The importance of sex and relationship education (SRE) cannot be underestimated. When we think about the multiple domains where SRE becomes relevant for young people, there is a clear overlap across healthy relationships, sexual exploitation, domestic abuse and peer dating violence.

Societies have always been divided between the conservatives and the liberals, between upholders of dignity and adopters of new ideas. But there are some issues which should be kept away from such labels and partisan politics. Sex education is one such issue. The plethora of arguments against sex education in schools doesn’t stand a chance on close scrutiny.

The argument of age

It is widely accepted by doctors worldwide that early onset of puberty has become a common occurrence. Boys and girls as young as 7 or 8 are experiencing puberty and development of secondary sexual characters. For those who are against sex education in the wake of protecting the young minds, should realize that only an equipped and learned individual can protect himself from harm.
