The workshop will be led by the school’s Digital Media Champions, a group of children who help to inform teachers and pupils in neighbouring schools about new technologies. The short session will look at how to use the Nintendo DSi to stimulate lessons, group-work, record assessments and measure against targets, as well as showcase how the school uses the new portable USB Charging Case from LapSafe® Products to charge and store their gaming devices.
In addition to the games-based learning workshop, LapSafe® Products will also be hosting a number of other events to enable teachers to learn from the best practice of others:
- Science Busking: Science communicator for Science Made Simple, David Price will be performing science tricks and demonstrations using every-day materials to show how science relates to our daily lives. David has worked with the BBC and TV Show ‘Brainiac’ to organise science events for schools, and will be science busking on stand H39 throughout Thursday 12 January 2012, using the ExplorerLAB™ mobile science cart.
- Using the iPad in Education – Assistant Headteacher at Felsted School, an Apple Regional Training Centre, Dr Nick R Dennis will discuss using the iPad in the classroom and explain how his school use the UnoCart™ for iPads charging trolley on stand H39 at 11am Friday 13 January 2012.
- Practical Science Ideas –Demonstrations of a series of classroom science experiments using the ExplorerLAB™ mobile science cart, a fully portable demonstration unit to teach interactive science. Fiona will be at stand H39 at 2pm Friday 13 January 2012.
- Science packs up-for-grabs – Teachers will have the chance to get their hands on some interactive science packs, including lots of fun experiments and tools to use in the classroom, by playing the ‘Where in World is Professor Smarty Pots?’ game. Professor Smarty Pots is the Official Ambassador for the ExplorerLAB™ and will be making appearances throughout the show on stand H39.
- Free education guides – Visitors that follow the @LapSafe Twitter feed will be able to download exclusive free educational guides offering information on games-based learning, iPads in the classroom, practical science lessons and ICT security.
