Scholabo has been designed for use by parents and teachers and is available to Primary and Pre-Schools, offering the latest advances in secure and private networking technology. As well as providing generic announcements for all children attending the school, it can be used to communicate directly with teachers via direct messaging or interactive forums controlled by the school.
The system, which removes the need for the traditional ‘letter in book bag’ scenario relied upon by many Primary schools throughout the UK, has already been implemented by more than 42 schools throughout Yorkshire alone.
With further schools showing an interest throughout the country, following a nationwide roll-out late this year, the system is likely to become a common platform for communication between parents and teachers as its many benefits are recognised.
Ed Balls, said: “Using social networking technology that Scholabo has put together is a really useful resource to enable parents to keep in touch with their children’s progress at school and staff to contact parents if they have concerns. It’s great to see local schools championing new technologies like these. Small businesses like Scholabo are making a real difference in schools like Morley Newlands.”
CEO of Scholabo, Brent Thurrell, comments: “Scholabo was developed to help schools communicate and engage with parents who prefer information at the touch of a button. Using the latest advancements in private online communications we are able to offer a risk free forum for parents and teachers. The system also gives schools the ability to reduce costs and the impact that they have on the environment through a reduction in paper usage. It goes without saying that the schools which have invested in Scholabo have seen the benefits first hand and often comment that they don’t know how they managed beforehand.”
Adrian Stygall, Headteacher at Morley Newlands Primary School, comments: “This system allows me to communicate quickly with parents in a sustainable and highly efficient way. It also allows teachers to share information and resources quickly with the parents of the children in their classes. If a child has not taken their homework home, the parent can look it up on Scholabo. Likewise details of a school visit. It’s tomorrow’s world, today!”
As Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families, Ed Balls brought together schools and children’s policy for the first time in the Children’s Plan and helped to reform the educational system in the UK.
