By Books @ Press on 06 September 2011, 14:18pm

Books @ Press is extremely pleased to support the Brit Writers’ Awards and provide sponsorship for all schools in Gloucestershire to enter the awards for 2012. Books @ Press resources have been developed by educationalists to specifically support teachers in addressing Religious Education and the Beliefs and Culture element of the Early Years curriculum. These exciting, stimulating and colourful publications and their accompanying cross-curricular resources are loved by children and teachers alike. The stories and activities, entirely appropriate and meaningful to even the youngest children, also provide more challenging ideas for older pupils.

Good RE encourages children to reflect on their learning and form and express their own ideas. Exploring aspects of religious beliefs and practices provides stimulating and thought provoking opportunities for creative writing.

Author and publisher, Gill Vaisey has a background in teaching and now provides training for teachers promoting effective ways in which to engage children in stimulating RE activities. This partnership with the Brit Writers’ Awards provides a fantastic opportunity to bring the best of creative writing and religious education together.

As part of our commitment to making the lives of teachers that little bit easier, we provide FREE downloadable teachers’ support material with a wealth of ideas on how to use the resources, linked to the EYFS curriculum for England and the Foundation Phase curriculum for Wales. Gill also provides training for practitioners working with Early Years, KS1 and KS2 pupils.

The Brit Writers' Awards is an exciting initiative designed to encourage and inspire new writing talent; particularly among young people. The aim is to show pupils, and people of all ages throughout the UK, that creative writing is an exciting and powerful way to increase literacy skills, enhance capacity for self-expression and turn dreams into reality.
