Microsoft funds free Windows 8 tablet training for teachers

By Tablet Academy on Wednesday, 16 April 2014 15:08 | New Products & Services

Given how so many schools are looking to move further into 1:1 learning, technology companies are keen to have educators looking to the future. Microsoft have teamed up with Innovate My School partner the Tablet Academy to make sure that teachers realise the potential of their Windows 8 operating system for tablets.

Microsoft are funding a range of Free Windows 8 Training Days to schools across Great Britain, in order to complement the sale of Windows 8 Tablets. The courses are being offered by IMS partner the Tablet Academy to schools, colleges and universities across England, Wales and Scotland, and will be available to teachers purchasing any tablet running the Windows 8 Operating System. For every 20 Tablets purchased, irrespective of manufacturer, teachers can enjoy one full day or two half-day training events. They can alternatively opt for a full day of consultancy.

As discussed on this website last month, the Tablet Academy work with teachers to help schools fully understand tablets. Even though plenty of establishments have made the decision to dive into 1:1 learning, many teachers have too much on their plate to adapt to tablets in their own time. This is why the company is sure to deliver high-end training to educators.

“This is fantastic news for schools who are keen to explore the potential of Windows 8 tablets in their schools,” said Professor Steve Molyneux, CEO of the Tablet Academy, “as it allows their teachers to receive free CPD on how to effectively use the devices in the classroom. The offer has been in a trial period over the past two months and has been welcomed by a number of headteachers across the country."
