Explore the calendar with your students with this simple and timeless design.

Circa - the Circular Calendar - is an educational toy calendar specifically designed to help children understand the cycles of the calendar using the toy's innovative rotating and circular stacking design. Circa is all about learning through play.

This unique wooden educational toy calendar encourages teacher/carer-child interaction and is designed to help children understand the cycles of the calendar at their own individual pace.

With Circa, children can split the year into days of the week, days of the month, months of the year, and the seasons, learning each of the different components of the calendar separately rather than being overwhelmed by the calendar as a whole. As their awareness grows they can fit the discs together to see how the calendar comes together as a whole.

Circa aims to help children in their time awareness as well as maths skills, such as sequencing (e.g. order of the weeks days, seasons, months), addition and subtraction (e.g. how many days from a specific day to another in the correct order either adding days or subtracting days).

Circa is divided into four pieces that represent a major cyclical event in the calendar:

  • the days of the week disc
  • the months of the year disc, including a rotating seasons sub-disc
  • the days of the month disc
  • and a perpetual year dial

Full features are:

  • movable markers on each disc to highlight a day, month or date
  • removable and reusable vinyl activity stickers to be used to emphasise an important event
  • colour coded days of the week to separate between weekend and week days
  • colour coded months of the year to correspond with the number of days in each month
  • seasons disc that can be rotated depending on which hemisphere you are in
  • days of the week nursery rhyme on the reverse side of the disc
  • months of the year nursery rhyme on the reverse side of the disc

Special Educational Needs
Time awareness is one of the hardest concepts for children to learn and Circa calendar aims to simplify this by making time more visual, tangible, tactile and fun for children in order to achieve greater understanding of this concept.

Circa is divided into four pieces that represent a major cyclical event in the calendar:

* the days of the week disc
* the months of the year disc, including a rotating seasons sub-disc
* the days of the month disc
* and a perpetual year dial

The days of the week are colour coded to differentiate between the weekdays and the weekend. So even if a child is not yet able to read, they can use the colours as visual guides to help them learn the difference and breaking it down for them into more manageable components.

Months of the year are colour coded to help children remember the number of days in each month.

Nursery rhymes are printed at the back of the week day disc and the months of the year disc. The week day nursery rhyme is a new rhyme song to "Oh My Darling Clementine" and uses animal imagery and alliteration to aide the children in visualising the sequence of the days combined with alliteration.

The clear numbers on the date disc is unique for young children learning their numbers, as many resources stop at the number 10. As the date disc goes up to 31 it help children learn how numbers grow by one integer at a time.
