How does this help a school?
Careers
CREATE YOURSELF CREATE CHANGE
We provide all the resources necessary for your pupils to learn about social enterprise. Multimedia resources, lesson plans, notes and activity ideas will help stimulate and guide discussion and learning. We will assign practising social enterprise entrepreneurs to facilitate three classroom activities.

Once the course has been accredited pupils will be able to enrol for a bronze, silver or gold social enterprise qualification.

Be among the first schools to pilot this exciting collaboration between Social Adventures, Bangdrum and the Real Ideas Organisation in producing tomorrow’s socially conscious entrepreneurs.
Citizenship
Nurturing global citizens
Bangdrum Workshops and events have a global dimension, drawing on youth arts models from Brazil, Japan, India, Gambia, Malawi and Europe. This research informs practice with students in the UK, linking your school to an international network of youth arts and cultural projects.
Community Cohesion
Many of our schools workshops are designed to integrate educational and social objectives by working with the community. Our Carnival Arts package is one example of Bangdrum’s success in this area and has been praised by OFSTED. But in addition, we have designed programmes especially to achieve social development goals. A good example of this is the Meninos Oldham Youth Project.

“I am hugely impressed by the creativity , imagination, knowledge and skills of the team. It was great to see the level of public interest and involvement from all ages and backgrounds of the community we serve”.

Curriculum
About our music store:
All our workshops are designed to meet the personal development and curriculum needs of both primary and secondary school pupils. We can tailor each workshop to suit the age and number of participants.

Better still, if you want to highlight particular elements or design your own workshop, just let us know and we’ll work with you to realise your vision.
Eco-friendly
We know that buying good-quality instruments is beset with potential pitfalls.

That’s why we offer free advice and guidance on purchasing or hiring musical instruments according to your specific requirements. Our Music Store advisors are experienced professional musicians with intimate knowledge of the process of manufacture and characteristics of our instruments.

Quality
All our instruments are of the highest quality, made of the best raw materials. They are traditionally made by skilled artisans – not for the export market – but for professional musicians in country. We have even managed to source professional ‘mini’ instruments for small hands, giving young people the chance to play the best instruments instead of making do with poor imitations.

Value for money
From single instruments to kits for ensembles, the Bangdrum Music Store is flexible enough
to suit your budget and imagination. We are happy to provide free, expert advice on instrument combinations to suit your project or school. All our instruments are guaranteed against poor workmanship or faulty materials. In the rare event of dissatisfaction we guarantee replacement.

Ethical responsibility
Bangdrum believes in fairly traded instruments and you can rest assured that instruments purchased from us are sourced responsibly and that instrument makers receive a fair price.

About schools drum packs
Each of our percussion kits includes sufficient instruments for 30 players as standard but kits can be expanded or reduced to suit your needs.

A typical percussion kit will include everything your school needs for small to large ensemble work and is perfect for Wider Opportunities initiatives.
Enrichment
More than merely music
Bangdrum Workshops deepen understanding and learning in the arts. But to stop there would be to sell them short. Our workshops focus on thinking skills and personal development, too. Pupils learn and practise effective team-work and creative thinking. They use their initiative to try out new ideas and their experiences to develop greater self-confidence.
Financial
Bangdrum is much more than music bisiness. We are a social enterprise dedicated to building better communities through the provision of performing arts programmes in schools, businesses, arts organisations and communities.

Bangdrum has always been more than a business. Our conviction about the power of the performing arts to bring communities together and to drive positive social change was formalised in September 2010 when Bangdrum became a Community Interest Company (CIC).
So, when you book a Bangdrum Workshop, you’re automatically investing in the community because all of our profits go back to the CIC, whose mandate is to serve the community.
International Links
Raising cultural awareness
Bangdrum Workshops and performances celebrate cultural diversity. Our Consultants come from Brazil, Pakistan, the USA, Africa and India as well as Britain. Their first-hand experience of life in different parts of the world reinforces your school’s work in developing understanding of cultural diversity.
Special Educational Needs
"Bangdrum has been the driver in developing music within the school, engaging children from all backgrounds and all levels of using English. They provide personalised support with differentiated planning for children with special educational needs. The children are continually engaged and one went on to play for Halle Youth Orchestra having had no prior music learning. I would be happy to recommend the team and look forward to working with them in the future."

Teaching & Learning
Catering for different learning styles
Educational research reveals a range of learning styles. For example, some of us are more visual learners whilst others need to get active. We recognise that our workshops need to reach everyone, through their preferred learning style. Our workshops are inspirational, creative and fun. They combine a range of different approaches, with plenty of opportunity for interaction from asking questions to banging a drum, designing a costume to shadowing a professional dancer.

Bangdrum Professional Development and Consultancy
Do you want to develop your approach to teaching World Music and Dance? Explore creative ways of working with your community? Sharpen your skills and understanding of South Asian, Brazilian and African rhythms and musical idioms? Then Bangdrum can help you reach your professional goals.

Our artist-tutors are experienced in designing workshops to suit your needs. We have provided Consultancy and Continuing Professional Development packages for schools, colleges, universities and support services for 15 years.

Contact us to discuss your needs.
