Publisher's description

Are you paying someone to come into school every year to deliver training to your school council?

Do you want to engage the whole school body in debates without resorting to boring questionnaires?

“The difference between every1speaks® and other educational products is that other developers take something like Facebook and strip it down to try and fit it into an educational context and this, like a square peg in a round hole, often fails. every1speaks® have started from the ground up; this is not a pale imitation of another product, it is an innovative, original and powerful product which fills a real gap and gives a flexible, efficient and creative platform for learners to have their voices heard. The potential for every1speaks® moves far beyond the school council finding out what other students prefer for lunch into the realms of enquiry based learning where it can be used to ask questions of other learners in the school and potentially a worldwide audience. An amazing product with masses of potential.”

How does this help a school?
Attendance
Engaging students in decision making has been proven to increase attendance as pupils feel included and that their ideas can improve the content of and environment that they work in.
Community Cohesion
Parents, teachers, governors and local people can all have accounts and all take part in school decisions. Who to include in which debates is a decision taken by the school admin and/or school council.
Eco-friendly
No more paper questionnaires, postage costs etc...
Financial
Using Every1Speaks can be cheaper than having a student voice 'expert' train your pupils for just one day. It's also cheaper than having an external agency run a one off questionnaire with pupils that often creates far more information than you need and usually raises more questions than it answers. With E1S you, or your school council can ask pupils questions whenever you like for one cost.
Parent Voice
Parents can be included in discussions as relevant and they'll enjoy the game based elements of E1S as much as the pupils will!
Safeguarding
Only verified users can access this and we use SSL certificated encryption. Ideas and comments aren't directly linked to users to prevent cyber bullying. Names etc aren't included and you can choose to moderate all content before it goes live.
Special Educational Needs
Our interface is low words/high pictures making it engaging for all.
Student Voice
Our main impulse is to make a platform any and all pupils have an equal voice in. We want to help your school council canvas the opinions of the entire student body over an extended time period - one off questionnaires force everyone to answer everything on one day - why not add your opinion on a debate when it's most important to you and be given the opportunity to change your opinion based on what others say - this is normal social interaction played out through technology and we call it 'Social Curiosity'.
Teaching & Learning
We use an innovative system loosely based on Edward De Bono's thinking hats that allows users to self classify opinion based on the stand point it came from. Our approach promotes literacy and persuasive writing without alienating poor writers by having too much text. Our text limiters promote concise ideas and we reward interaction with the site through the unlocking of achievements and medals.

When we first were given training on E1S it was instantly clear how it would be possible to utilise this to revolutionise our work for the Unicef Rights Respecting Schools Award. Now that all students are able to access E1S it is possible to get real data to influence decision making in school. We can ask pertinent questions and get responses from a variety of children, rather than their School Council spokespersons. Children can discuss topics that interest them, and really shape the decisions made in school. Children can also share their opinions about world events and begin to form their own thoughts and feelings. The data is collated in a much more convenient way, it is less time consuming and leaves time for staff involved to act upon matters rather than be completing paperwork.

We are currently working towards the next level of the RRSA award, and I can honestly say we wouldn’t have made this progress without Every1Speaks.

If you want a great vehicle for powerful student voice in school and learner voice in the classroom, look no further than Every1speaks.

We recently purchased Every1 Speaks and although we are still in the setting up process the feedback from staff and pupils has been very positive. Often we only ask our pupils questions we are happy to hear the answers to. But this software allows the children to voice their thoughts ideas and concerns in a way that is fun and accessible for all. Peter has been really supportive in getting us up and running and sorting out any problems. We are looking forward to using the tool to influence our future teaching and learning.
