The resource file seeks to supplement the National Strategy training for leading teachers.
It is a collection of hands-on, practical resources to support the various facets of the role. The resources have for the most part a focus on teaching and learning and are designed for use in school, focusing on subject leaders, teachers, pupils and parents.
The resources are consistent with and supportive of the leading teacher training. The Department for Children, Schools and Families' National Quality Standards are referenced throughout.
The sections of the resource file echo the main responsibilities of the leading teacher for gifted and talented as defined by the national strategies.
The resource materials are targeted at helping the leading teacher to carry out their role through:
- supporting CPD opportunities for classroom teachers, subject leaders, senior leaders and governors
- supporting pupils in becoming pro-active independent learners
- supporting parents in becoming partners with the school in supporting their child’s learning.
