Manic Monkey brings together over 30 years experience within the world of children’s publishing and award winning specialists in 3D animation and interactive gaming technology – the perfect combination to bring the world of learning alive.
Our aim is to truly engage children and inspire them to learn.
We’re committed to raising standards in educational publishing and creating breakthrough software to close the gap between educational materials and the kind of games children play at home
Principally focused on the Primary age group, the company creates stunning 3D graphics and ‘virtual worlds’ which, together with sound educational foundations, ensures truly engaging and effective products.
Currently available in three languages – English, French and German; the vocabulary and structures taught through Manic Monkey software are integrated with ESOL exams for Young Learners. Further, the software is aligned with the Common European Framework at levels A1 and A2.There are built in assessment tests and personal progress records to support this.
The software and books in each unit have a clear grammatical focus and practice identified communicative functions. Units are topic-based, and teach language through a unique engagement with the people and places that feature in the software. To the young learner, an engagement with the world of ‘Little Bridge’ presents both challenge and enjoyment. The language learned becomes the means to access all games, stories, songs and poems of the irresistible imaginary world. New words and structure emerge seamlessly through the context of characters and their lives. The practice and reinforcement of language is achieved through varied and stimulating interactive activites.
Variety is central to our child-centered approach, and in this way all four language skills can be developed in consistently exciting ways.
Little Bridge is based on a methodology that combines tried and tested pedagogical principles (provision of enough practice, systematic recycling of prior learning etc.) with an innovative, child centred approach.
In addition to the interactive software, a classroom license gives teachers access to additional materials (including an Audio CD, linked to activities in the Pupil’s Book and printable Flashcards and Copymasters) – all designed to add variety and to ensure extra practice and reinforcement.
Exciting new projects for 2010/11 include the exciting games-based learning portal: www.littlebridge.com

Based in an authentic community setting , courses brings language learning to life with people and places children can really get to know. Using extremely high production values, the ‘look’ of Little Bridge is breathtaking. From the first glimpses of the town in the introductory movie, to the huge variety of 3D animations embedded in the program, the Little Bridge visuals are second to none. This attention to quality and detail is truly unique in an ‘education package’.
Walk around the town and you’re immediately immersed in this ‘virtual’ world. Whether you simply want to wander at your leisure, or take part in the specially created ‘search’ activities, you’re experiencing life in this little English town.
The wide range of characters who live in Little Bridge (different ages, ethnicities, family groups, interests) means there is always someone to engage and identify with. Young Rose with her dreamy, gentle nature is a particular favourite, as is cheeky and mischievous Matthew, sporty James and serious Geeta - and of course there’s Domino, the loveable, fun-loving dog!
With Little Bridge you are invited to share in daily routines, special days and festivals. You can visit the shop, the sports ground and the school and discover what friends in Little Bridge are doing. Key cultural features are highlighted and this friendly English speaking world becomes both fascinating and familiar. The ‘real, human’ element is at the product’s heart. Using great imagery, together with well crafted stories, poems and music, which again combine quality writing with great production values and a real feel for a young audience - and the irresistible world of Little Bridge comes to life.
Learning acquisition, often seen as ‘abstract’, is real and meaningful with Little Bridge, through the simple urge to understand and the desire to join in. But nothing is left to chance! ‘Behind the scenes’ there is a carefully built structure of presentation, practice and recycling of key language , to ensure the best foundations in language learning are laid . (Little Bridge Levels 1-6 based on the Cambridge ESOL syllabus: ‘Starters, Movers and Flyers’).
And keeping children motivated to learn is what Little Bridge is all about. The variety and visual appeal of the practice activities, together with the ‘randomisation’ of routines – ensures they are freshly
attractive every time – whilst scorekeeping and the achievement of personal ‘bests’ inspires children to achieve - all warmly encouraged by Domino the Dog!
Teacher support is assured, with a thorough and easy to use Guide, which includes lesson plans, a wealth of engaging activities and hints and tips to reinforce language and culture. And the Little Bridge course is compatible with both the Cambridge ESOL exams (Starters, Movers, Flyers) and is aligned with the Common European Framework at levels A1 and A2.
Every classroom license comes with an Audio CD and printable Flashcards and Copymasters to provide variety and options and to suit a wide range of teaching styles.
The high quality, full colour, great value, Pupil Activity Books are fully integrated with the rest of the resource, providing children with their own record of achievement as well as encouraging the important skills of reading and writing. Homework tasks can be linked to practice activities in the software.
