Wireless networks biggest single issue when it comes to commercial solutions is inconsistency in its quality of service, because users expect to always receive the same level of service as the highest level of service they have ever received.

But most wireless implementations have some very clear limitations as to why they cannot be consistent:

• Once you connect to an access point, you stay connected to that access point until you go out of range, even if there is another point nearer to you.
• The data access speeds on an access point run as fast as the slowest device accessing that point at the same time.
• All network traffic (Data, voice, multimedia, security) run over the same layer.
• In some systems, each point must be managed separately.
