LabStats is the easiest and most economical software solution for tracking computer usage.
Designed specifically for networked computer environments, LabStats makes it easy to track application data, user logins, machine history, and overall computer usage. Real-time reports can be viewed in a web browser. LabStats help you to know who uses your computers where, when, and how.
LabStats uses an ultra-lightweight client agent to store usage data in a streamlined database, and a single server agent to generate reports on networked computer usage. Usage data can be stored indefinitely in a high-efficiency database.
The LabStats Suite also includes the products AppUse, LabMaps, and JuicePress.
AppUse generates reports on what applications are being launched, so you can know which software applications are being most implemented by students.
LabMaps displays for your students which computers are in use, and which are available, so they can find an open seat quickly and efficiently.
JuicePress optimizes the energy efficiency of your computers, allowing you to save energy and money by practicing green computing.
With LabStats you can generate reports on vital statistics that will allow you to make the best IT decisions for your organization. Visit our website for a free custom demo, or contact sales@computerlabsolutions.
You don’t need to buy a new server to use LabStats. The server components (web server, database) all install on to the same machine, which does not need to be a server-class computer. Here are our suggestions for a minimum configuration:
Windows 2000, XP, Vista, 2007, Server 2003, or Server 2008
PIII 700 or equivalent
512 MB RAM
5 GB Hard Drive Space for Database
2 GB Hard Drive Space for Logs
This minimum configuration will easily support up to 8 labs, with an average of 30 computers per lab. If you have more labs or computers, you will need more hardware.
**This machine should NOT be running any other web server or database server software.**
CLIENT
Our goal is to support all your clients, so if you have an OS that we don’t support, give us your suggestions about what you want us to support, and we’ll do our best to include support quickly. Currently these are the clients we support:

Mac OSX 10.3 or greater
Linux Fedora Core 2 or greater
SUSE Linux 9 or greater
Novell Linux Desktop 9 or greater

- Credit Card
- Direct Debit

Other"One of the major changes to LabStats is the hierarchical organization of computers and labs. Stations, or computers, can be placed in labs; labs can be placed in buildings; buildings can be placed in colleges, etc. Stations and groups can be organized according to a licensing scheme; for example, AppUse for the math lab, or JuicePress for the library," said Ken Buska, Director of Technical Operations. “Custom icons can represent each node in the hierarchy to visually distinguish what kind of grouping each item is.”
Also, a single license is now all that is necessary to activate all products purchased. “We’re most excited to announce the new Auto Update Ability. Users only have to install the 5.0 client once. And only licensed components will run, saving on CPU, memory, and network traffic,” said Jon Nelson, a Software Representative. “On-demand actions can now be sent to clients, such as shut down and wake-up, without relying on the client to check in first.”
Updates also include a zooming feature for the timeline of statistics gathered by LabStats. Users can now zoom through the different time charts and they can be viewed in a yearly, monthly, daily, or 15 minute format. Report settings have been enhanced and customized reports can be saved and viewed later for convenience of comparing with other reports.
A revamped scheduling system has been applied to JuicePress, the energy saving software that allows IT administrators to employ green computing in their labs. A revamped report and schedule generation offers users more convenience when customizing the aesthetic of reports.
LabMaps, software that allows IT administrators to create a map of their labs so students may find an open computer quickly and efficiently, now includes customizable icons and colors to represent computers. Users can click and drag multiple selections at one time. Maps can now be displayed in full screen mode (such as on a large monitor at the entrance to a lab), and resized the same way one would resize a window. In addition to these customizable features, the API is exposed so users can create their own personalized solutions using data collected by LabStats.
Selected beta testers get to enjoy immediate release of LabStats 5.0. Current LabStats customers with maintenance who’d like to express interest in an invite to private beta may contact Computer Lab Solutions at info@computerlabsolutions.com.
