As a Special Hospital School and Media Arts College based on 14 sites across the city of Birmingham, we have purchased a double decker bus and converted it into a moving media workshop. Our latest addition is a fully functioning Radio Station, custom built by Russell Prue and his team at Anderton Tiger Broadcaster. I can honestly say that I think the Radio Station might well be the most innovative way of engaging young people that I have come across in 34 years of teaching! The quality of the installation is first class with every attention paid to the details that make all the difference - lit signs for On Air and Mic Live - professional quality 'cans' and mics. The training we have received has been of a very high standard - lively and funny, offering our young people the chance to gain in confidence and actually broadcast live - something I never expected many of them to be able to do. I cannot recommend this highly enough if you are looking for a novel way to improve your speaking and listening grades, your ICT skill base and to motivate young people who may not see school as a very positive experience. It is definitely worth every penny!
