Aimed at learners of all ages;
this is a whole day workshop session using Russell's own designed and manufactured school radio equipment to produce and broadcast a live radio show from your school or education establishment. Russell will work with a class sized group or bigger if possible, he will split them into teams to work on the individual components that go to make up a radio show. Live School Radio Shows typically have news, weather, sports, features and sometimes depending on any thematic based learning projects that have recently been undertaken there may be a Radio Play. This is feature packed workshop with plenty of hands-on experience. Each team will need to elect an Editor who will attend top level station manager meets with Russell and give progress reports on how show items are progressing. These are short notice Editor Meetings and team discussions and give an authentic real-life feel to the workshop. Each team is introduced to the equipment so that there is a broad understanding of what's involved in the production side of radio. Live Radio has never been this much fun.

The workshop appeals to everyone, planning, collaborating on a radio programme is a brilliant way to engage students, promote student voice and develop critical thinking skills in a safe secure environment. This is different to podcasting, this is live, high pressure, on the button radio, and there's nothing like it to motivate learners. Russell will also make his SMS Texting Service available for competitions. Your show hosts will receive live texts during their show often from Parents and other classes listening at school.

Available for all age groups and all abilities. Perfect for enrichment, wow-days, and as a reward. It is also a perfect way to experience how Live School Radio might impact on your learning and teaching, a less expensive way of trying out this brilliantly engaging technology.

Specifications
The workshop needs to be hosted in a space big enough for groups of children to work at tables and for the Radio Station equipment. Often the school hall is the most suitable space but large classrooms are also good. You can have as many young people involved as you have space.

As part of our centenary celebrations Silverstone Federation of Schools (Infant and Junior Schools) decided to hire Anderson Tiger to help do a 1 hour live radio show.

From the outset Russell was excellent encouraging us with ideas and his natural enthusiasm and helping us meet our aim to have the whole school involved (no mean feat!).

Russell sat with the key organising team to lead us by the hand and help us plan our day. The pupils and staff worked hard to make sure that everyone was involved. It was great to see the infant pupils interviewing former pupils and staff on their ipads. The enthusiasm and motivation generated was fantastic.

As the great day arrived there was a buzz of excitement. Russell came in on the day and ensured that all was ready for the big broadcast, ensuring that the pre-recorded material was ready to be mixed with the live presentation.

It went down a storm with Russell declaring that this was one of his best shows ever. Who would have thought that you could get so much curriculum work from this, from speaking and listening to writing to planning.

Thoroughly recommend this.

We purchased this amazing piece of equipment only a few weeks ago, and I have seen what a massive impact it can have on the children in my school. They are confident, organised and on task for the whole time we use the radio, and they love broadcasting live to the whole school community.

Russel came in to give us a whole day's inset as part of the purchasing cost and he was a very good teacher. The children and I learnt so much about the equipment and radio techniques, and I felt very confident afterwards that I could teach this to the rest of the school.

I have initially trialled the equipment with my year 6 classes, and now intend to have a regular lunchtime club with children vertically grouped across the whole school. Many children returned an electronic audition to me, and I am pleased to say that this group will begin work next week. They will broadcast live across the school for 30 minutes every lunchtime, and they will be in charge of what goes on the show and putting it together.

I know that this radio system will be an excellent purchase for the school for years to come and I cannot recommend it highly enough. If your school can afford it, buy it, sit back, let the kids go with it and watch them flourish!
What a fantastic day we had at Redby Primary Academy with Russell. From the moment he arrived at school there was an almost palpable energy generated. He worked with all of our KS2 children (over 200 of them!!) in the course of the day and each group had a memorable and engaging experience. So much so that several children now wish to be radio journalists!! His attention to detail, meticulous planning and larger than life persona guarantees a quality learning experience for children and staff alike! We are now looking at updating our old Radio Station to Russell's system which is more user friendly - the best thing about that is that we get Russell to come back to our school for further training - Can't wait!!!
What a great day! From the time Russell arrived (well before the school day started) until he left, we (staff and children alike) were all interested and engaged in the activities.
Russell has a natural rapport with children and is able to motivate them to achieve more than they thought possible - the wide grin on their faces said it all! Adults also benefited from the training, which not only taught the skills needed to run the Radio Station, but also allowed them to explore innovative ideas relevant to the school.
I would thoroughly recommend both Russell's training sessions and radio workshops.
We had Russell Prue in for a day, working with my Year 6 class. From the moment they entered the classroom, all pupils were totally engaged. The day flew past, with every child participating in all aspects of the process. The final result surpassed everyone's expectations (including my own) and the whole school 'downed tools' to tune in to the show, before coming in a class at a time to see the studio from which it was broadcast. Russell is a dedicated and inspirational professional; his enthusiasm is infectious and his energy apparently inexhaustable. I would have no hesitation in recommending this experience, headed up by Russell, to any school. Many thanks for an unforgettable day.

We had Russell and Sarah in last week to do the worskshop with my class (32 Year 5/6's). They were in for the whole school day and it was a fanstastic day! The children rose to the occasion and loved every minute of it. They were inspired and were inspiring thanks to Russell's skills in both teaching/guiding them through the process of doing a live radio broadcast. Many different skills were developed and all the children were thoroughly absorbed in what they were doing.
I would fully recommend this workshop to any schools interested in doing this kind of thing. It was a big experience for the children and one they will never forget.

We loved Russell's workshop earlier in the year so much, we had to have him back for more! After a fabulous workshop before Christmas with years 4&5 (see review below), the whole school was buzzing with excitement and the staff were as keen as the children to get Russell back asap!

As before, Russell's advice beforehand allowed us to plan the day well, with a mix of years 2,3&6 split over two shorter sessions. This worked fantastically and the older pupils relished the opportunity to take the lead within their groups.

Thanks to Russell's endless enthusiasm and encouragement, both broadcasts were a great success and all the children left with huge smiles, feeling incredibly proud of themselves.

I cannot recommend highly enough. The difference we saw in some of our pupils was immense. Many thanks Russell.

Russell came to Ridgeway and gave over 200 students an experience they will never forget. Tightly organised from start to finish, Russell planned the day for us and executed it to the second, giving our students the challenge of broadcasting a 30 minute radio show live to the nation (we had already issued a press release telling Swindon about the day and all the parents were suitably excited!) Russell gave each group an area to prepare (news, sport, traffic, adverts, etc) and set them tight deadlines for completion and rehearsal. ALL students were on task throughout, with Russell using his considerable personality to engage and drive them on. Every student contributed and came away smiling, full of achievement and enthusiasm about radio. All us teachers had to do was set out a few tables and then sit back and enjoy the performance! Everyone had a FANTASTIC day and we cannot thank Russell enough.

Top class event. Russell and his admin staff are really professional. Good advice prior to the event enabled us to pick out the year groups that the show would have the most impact on. The day itself was fantastic and Russell is a real natural with kids. The children gained so much from it that it is difficult to know where to start. Team work and motivation were brilliant. The "quiet" children came out of their shells and shone. The children are desperate for Russell to come back - on a weekly basis!!

Thanks to Russell and his radio workshop, Langwith Bassett was thoroughly beaming on 24th May 2010. I was lucky enough to win a prize of Russell and his radio set up for the day at our annual ICT conference. We are a very small rural school with just 66 pupils of very varied abilities and needs. Russell made each and everyone of the pupils and staff feel very special and equally needed in the success of our show. He was prompt, set up and ready to roll before I (the ICT co-ordinator and y5/6 teacher) had even arrived. He explained the day to the children with great enthusiasm and passion, the children were positively buzzing. Everyone was involved and contributed to the best of their ability (even the children with very limited speech) I have to say it was the best prize I have ever won and would recommend this workshop to any Primary/secondary school as Russell is a master in his artform. He could easily adapt to any given setting/pupil range. The children's faces were positively beaming when they heard their broadcast live. They were so proud as were their parents, and so they should have been! The behaviour and focus was faultless. The workshop was a tremendous success. We can't thank you enough! M Berry

We had the most wonderful day with Russell. He arrived in good time and was so well organised that all the day went really smoothly. The children had a great time and were involved in quality IT work from start til finish.
I cannot recommend Russell Prue too highly.
Many thanks to him for a thoroughly enjoyable day.
