As a head of learning IRIS allows me to track behaviour at every level. From basic tracking as a year group, to evaluating the impact on learning as individuals. By getting the information across faculties and identifying the patterns, I can be proactive and prevent behaviour having such a detrimental effect.
From the simple, quick and easy recording of rewards and incidents to the weighting of their importance (according to your local needs) and the fantastic analytical tools, this "live" service is outstanding. It stops staff running around chasing their tails allowing them the time to analyse and reflect in order to plan interventions and subsequently monitor their effectiveness. In short it takes away the leg work and turns the largely anecdotal and unspecific paper mountain into extremely powerful and visual feedback which can then be effectively utilised in driving strategy (behaviour for learning, inclusion, ECM, CPD) and it also clearly pinpoints hotspots and supervision issues. Most importantly IRIS very quickly becomes proactive not reactive.
Lancashire Short Stay Schools are all investing in or encouraging their mainstream partners to have a good long look at IRIS!
I have been using IRIS for around 3 years now and have found it very simple and incredibly effective to use. In terms of sharing information it is fantastic - alerts can be set up so the right people get to know what is going on instantly. This means that we can act as quickly as we need to. The analysis section is excellent - we even used it as evidence to go from a 6 to a 5 period day. The support you get as part of the package is efficient and readily available - they will even help customise the system to your school needs. I looked at several packages before deciding on this one - in my opinion it was easily the best one.
IRIS is an outstanding software package that makes rewarding students and recording incidents incredibly easy. The whole school has benefited from using IRIS, especially pastoral staff. The team at IRIS are very supportive, always fast to respond and helpful. The software is flexible in order to suit our needs and it is constantly evolving from the input of those who use it. We researched 3 different software packages and IRIS stood head and shoulders above the others. I could talk about the merits of IRIS for several hours and would recommend it to every school!
We have had IRIS in place for just over two years now and, to be honest, I just don't know how we managed without it! Gone are the days of pieces of paper flying around the school or, more likely, sitting unnoticed and un-dealt with beneath a heap of exam marking etc! IRIS gives us up to date information and enables us to track students' behaviour and take appropriate action to support them. It also gives us the tool to reward the vast majority who, day after day, lesson after lesson, get it right! Our staff took to the system straight away and use it extremely well. In terms of analysis it enables us to monitor behaviour and take action. I know that there are lots of systems out there but I would be hard pushed to find anything that could rival IRIS. It is tailored to our school's needs and the level of customer service / technical support is second to none. I couldn't recommend IRIS highly enough; a real value for money quality product....If you haven't got it already I just don't know how you cope!!
Situated in Liverpool, we are an all boys comprehensive of 1400+ students and have used Iris since February 2007. It is now firmly embedded in the school systems and the recording of incidents, and more importantly rewards, is eponymously referred to by all as 'Irising'.

Having looked at alternative tracking systems, we chose Iris because it dovetailed perfectly into our Behaviour for Learning policy, which lays emphasis on choice and consequences, and encourages positive behaviour. The ability to easily reward students for their affirmative behaviour has meant that more value has been placed on doing what is right. This positive conduct is then effortlessly collated and celebrated in achievement assemblies.

In terms of negative behaviour, Iris can be customised to incorporate C1, C2 and C3 incidents and the resultant detentions that are generated. Allied to this is an array of analytical tools which allow data to be usefully evaluated. In essence, informative profiles of pupils' behaviour in and around school are easily generated and are used in tracking performance, and intervention strategies

The whole system is fully user friendly and we have been able to give access to students so that they can become more responsible for their own behaviour. Similarly parents are able to retrieve real time data on their child's performance in school and with such knowledge are able to liaise positively with the school.

The support we have received from the Iris team has always been prompt and efficient and we have experienced only two hours downtime in the three years we have used Iris.

If staff in your school are still on a paper-chase, I would urge that you give urgent consideration to Iris.
