Lancashire Short Stay Schools are all investing in or encouraging their mainstream partners to have a good long look at IRIS!
Having looked at alternative tracking systems, we chose Iris because it dovetailed perfectly into our Behaviour for Learning policy, which lays emphasis on choice and consequences, and encourages positive behaviour. The ability to easily reward students for their affirmative behaviour has meant that more value has been placed on doing what is right. This positive conduct is then effortlessly collated and celebrated in achievement assemblies.
In terms of negative behaviour, Iris can be customised to incorporate C1, C2 and C3 incidents and the resultant detentions that are generated. Allied to this is an array of analytical tools which allow data to be usefully evaluated. In essence, informative profiles of pupils' behaviour in and around school are easily generated and are used in tracking performance, and intervention strategies
The whole system is fully user friendly and we have been able to give access to students so that they can become more responsible for their own behaviour. Similarly parents are able to retrieve real time data on their child's performance in school and with such knowledge are able to liaise positively with the school.
The support we have received from the Iris team has always been prompt and efficient and we have experienced only two hours downtime in the three years we have used Iris.
If staff in your school are still on a paper-chase, I would urge that you give urgent consideration to Iris.
