END OF YEAR REPORT FOR PIMS - The new addition to the class.

Over the course of the year, we have received many kind words, support and suggestions. Tailoring PIMS, and especially our interactive attainment graphs, has made PIMS really stand out from the crowd.

Working closely with a range of high quality and diverse learning establishments has allowed us to shape the future of PIMS and focus upon the aspects that really matter. The following upgrades have been introduced throughout the year:

  •  Included objectives for Personal Learning and Thinking Skills and Building Learning Power with modified interactive graphs, to clearly show individual profiles.
  •  Increased the range of age and abilities by the inclusion of P Scales and Foundation Stage Profiles.
  •  Provided a comment section within the scratch box, so that teachers can simply and efficiently add context to their assessments.
  • Built in automatic resizing whenever an image is previewed, to make PIMS faster for everyone.

We have been delighted by the response of many teachers, who see PIMS as an ideal opportunity to replace folders of written evidence of attainment, with an online solution that can be accessed by relevant stake holders. However, we are now keen to maximise the value of the quality of the data collected and are busy working on the following changes and features that will be coming online over the summer:

  • Update APP objectives from levels 1 to 8, to include Speaking & Listening and reflect recent changes to the Numeracy format.
  • Redesign interactive graphs for APP, clearly illustrating progress through national curriculum levels.
  • Generate graphs that consolidate data and illustrate group progress.
  • Add filters that will allow specific work to be selected for ease of moderation.

Simply Efficient are offering a fantastic opportunity that will allow the use of PIMS for one class in your school free of charge for the whole of the next academic year.

The new creative way to assess, monitor and report online.

PIMS provides a real solution to assessing and monitoring pupil progress by linking evidence of learning and academic achievement, to learning objectives and goals across the curriculum. When no evidence is available, PIMS still provides a very simple solution to monitor pupil progress.

Developed with consideration of the learning platform in mind, PIMS links all stakeholders concerned with pupil performance, through secure login.

Interactive graphs showing pupil progress, can be drilled through providing an overview of many years of education, as well as evidence that proves attainment of a specific objective on a given date.

Flexibility is essential with the ever developing needs of assessing attainment. PIMS allows total freedom over assessment criteria.

The system is an ideal platform for Assessing Pupil Progress, using methods set out by the latest learning strategies. In addition personalised learning objectives can be entered from any source.

You chose the objectives the evidence speaks for itself.

Teaching Creatively With Confidence.

For decades, teachers have known that real learning occurs when the pupils themselves are totally engaged. However, the value of pupil centred approaches has always been hard to prove, especially with the increasing need for accountability within the education sector.

Julian Barrell, creator of PIMS, has been busy working with schools and academies across the country tailoring unique features of PIMS that reflect the needs of learners and learning establishments. The most recent addition has been the interactive 'Personal Learning and Thinking Skills' graph that simply illustrates development of thinking skills against criteria linked to Bloom's Taxonomy and drills though to the evidence.

PIMS provides an online assessment and evidencing solution that is highly educationally relevant, rather than a mechanism for producing statistics using low quality data. It will allow assessment against all APP subjects including Speaking and Listening and Science as well as criteria from other curriculum areas or objectives generated to reflect specific needs.
