Publisher's description

This is a LIVE School Radio Broadcasting System - designed by Russell Prue around the specific needs of young broadcasters. It is portable and designed to be easily moved around a school on a flat surface. The system is digital and is packed with ground-breaking technology other providers simply haven't thought of, the equipment breaks down and packs away into three easily moved pieces; so off-site Outside Broadcasts are simple and easy to manage and no one piece is too heavy to move. After working with young people from all over the country for two years on Live Radio Shows with lots of other manufacturer's equipment, Russell felt compelled to design his own system that was better and cheaper than comparable solutions. At BETT last year, Russell launched The Anderton Tiger Broadcaster, packed with innovative ground-breaking technology not available on other systems. Wheelchair users are easily accommodated as the twin 19” touch-screen monitors swing out to the side, the system is height adjustable and with On-Screen One-Touch-Auto-fade, running a live show has never been easier. With just one touch each fader can be automatically controlled and what’s more, you can see the Flying-Faders actually move on the traditional fader control desk. A constant backup is maintained at all times as everything is copied to a spare 500GB HD, music is imported using the onboard CD/DVD writer and The Broadcaster comes ready to go with over 150 Jingles already installed. The live show control software has been written in-house specifically with young people and inexperienced broadcasters in mind and comes with a year of online updates keeping you up to date with the latest functionality. This system is unlike anything else available and is exactly what young people need and not what the radio industry thinks they need. Skype has been seamlessly integrated into the software so that callers can be put ON AIR and texts and messages received live during a show. Tracks can be paused during playback for important school-wide announcements, the library can be easily searched using an iTunes like search facility and jingles can be looped before and during playback giving presenters extra time. The microphone windshields have been colour coded to match the fader desk making it easy to see who is using which microphone and adjust their levels. Full details of this amazing package can be found below or by contacting any of our team.
Live Radio has never been this much FUN!

This is the same equipment that Russell uses for his regular live professional Radio Shows to Educators about innovative ICT developments for learning and teaching in the C21st, and also the same equipment that Wired Teachers Radio uses.

Press Releases
Launched at BETT 2010, this is the newest School Radio Solution to the market. Uniquely designed by Russell Prue, this equipment is packed with features that young people told Russell they just had to have for their School Radio Station. Don't be fooled by more expensive systems claiming to be the only digital school radio system designed for schools. This solution is excellent value for money and does everything needed for a young, inexperienced broadcaster to sound absolutely fabulous. This leads to improved self esteem and greater levels of motivation. Speaking and Listening skills are vital for success in the 21st Century, give your children a head start with The Anderton Tiger Broadcaster. Working together in groups successfully with ICT is simple and straight forward with this system. The best results can be obtained when young people are left to run and organise the school radio station themselves.
Notes to editor;
Russell is an award winning ICT specialist, author and broadcaster. He has worked for the DfES and the BBC and has been entertaining education audiences with his unique and insightful ICT presentation for over 25 years.

How does this help a school?
Attendance
Live School Radio engages with young people like nothing else, once involved your project will motivate learners and attendance will improve. Why not broadcast early morning shows, be ON AIR when other students arrive. You may also want to use participation in the school radio station as a reward especially for good attendance. Now you have something they want!
Careers
Perfect for young people to experience the roles and responsibilities for commercial radio production. However, working in teams, collaboratively and in a creative fashion are all vital skills in the C21st. Telling a prospective employer or FE/HE establishment that you ran or were part of a money making radio project will most definately enhace your opportunities. Standing out from the crowd is easy with Live School Radio.
Citizenship
Working well together and respecting other opinions, views and beliefs are all essential for Citizenship in the 21st Century. Getting a wider community feel and appreciation is also vital, interviews with community groups, reporting on issues on a wide range of subjects, all good fun and very rewarding.
Community Cohesion
Broadcast outside of your establishment, involve Parents and the wider Community, make programmes that reflect interests and needs, play music and deliver your programmes in Community Languages. Invite minority groups to partipate for a wider audience and expression of views.
Curriculum
A Truly Cross-Curriculum piece of technology, School Radio can be easily embedded into any subject. Report live from History, covering a major past event, imagine Roman Radio, King Tutankhamun FM - what sort of things would be on the radio if they had a Broadcaster then? There is plenty of Literacy and Numeracy too, script writing and calculating the remaining time before the news are essential skills.
Enrichment
Extend and Enhance students' school experiences as they explore making programmes that refelct their interests.
Exam Results
Extend and enhance Gifted and Talented opportunities through Live School Radio.
Financial
Make money by selling adverts to local businesses, get your children to create advertising campaigns, sell ad time and run a real business that would generate funds for the school.
International Links
Broadcasting on the Internet makes it possible for anyone anywhere to listen in, why not make programmes together with International Schools. Host a live show in French, German or any language you choose.
IT Network
The Broadcaster immediately connects to your school network and is already setup to stream live or recorded shows around your establishment, allowing any connected device with audio capability to listen.
Parent Voice
Parents can be a part of your School Radio project too, involve them in interviews, after school involvement or simply as a listening audience for live comments and views.
Safeguarding
Promote your safeguilding agenda through regular adverts and public information broadcasts, getting the kids to do the speaking parts makes it easier to them to relate to your key messages.
Special Educational Needs
The system is easily used by all students, why not listen to some of the live workshops that Russell has hosted in a range of SEN schools. Listen by visiting http://www.andertontiger.com/podcasts
Student Voice
Give Students a real - LIVE Voice, let them run their own School Radio Station, your project will be successful if students feel they have easy access to an audience to express their views and contribute to station editorial policy. Create a Station Manager's Group, why not even empower them to take on the decision making of what equipment to buy in the first place. We know of one school that has done just that!
Teaching & Learning
Right now, Educators need currency to buy learners' attention and Live School Radio is a brilliant way of inspiring and motivating the most reluctant learners. It is easy and simple to hang any learning on a Live or Recorded Radio Show, anything is possible.

As an Academy which is no stranger to new technologies, we engaged with Anderton Tiger with a little trepidation when the initial demo session was booked. Within the first 15 minutes of the kit being assembled and Russell explaining what the hardware and software could do, all our fears were allayed. Enthusiasm and excitement for the potential of the Radio Station took over and from then on it was just a matter of how and when we could purchase the kit.
The whole process from demo to installation/training happened within months. This was all down to the flexibility and support from Russell and Sarah. The students who were trained by Russell when the kit was installed are now trying to find every opportunity to get their hands on it. They cannot wait for their first official ‘LIVE’ broadcast.
The kit itself is first class, extremely durable and flexible, having briefly shopped around it quickly became apparent that alternative solutions could not match the quality. Anderton Tiger appear to have thought of everything... except for maybe a Bruno Brookes style mullet for students to sport while they take part in a full, rich and professional radio experience.
A very simple but powerful Radio solution which is a great addition to our Academy and I look forward to all the wonderful engaging activities we will be able to carry out with it.

Hi Russell and Sarah,
I just wanted to say how thrilled I am with the broadcaster and the support you've given us at the Europa Centre. I've really enjoyed your training sessions, and the chance to sit and familiarise myself with the equipment - it's so exciting.
I've now used it with my staff, university students, trainee teachers and school children during their visits to the Centre, and they've all totally loved it! I've heard (and recorded!) youngsters coming out with phrases in the target language that we'd never normally here them attempting. Totally motivating! THANKS!

What a fantastic day we had with Russell and Sarah. All the pupils who were present were totally involved from start to finish. From choosing a station name through to interviews and then finally broadcasting to the whole school and parents it was an experience they still talk about. We invited some of our parents in to watch as well during our rehearsals and they were amazed at the knowledge and understanding our pupils had gained in so short a space of time. A wonderful day and excellent equipment.

As a Special Hospital School and Media Arts College based on 14 sites across the city of Birmingham, we have purchased a double decker bus and converted it into a moving media workshop. Our latest addition is a fully functioning Radio Station, custom built by Russell Prue and his team at Anderton Tiger Broadcaster. I can honestly say that I think the Radio Station might well be the most innovative way of engaging young people that I have come across in 34 years of teaching! The quality of the installation is first class with every attention paid to the details that make all the difference - lit signs for On Air and Mic Live - professional quality 'cans' and mics. The training we have received has been of a very high standard - lively and funny, offering our young people the chance to gain in confidence and actually broadcast live - something I never expected many of them to be able to do. I cannot recommend this highly enough if you are looking for a novel way to improve your speaking and listening grades, your ICT skill base and to motivate young people who may not see school as a very positive experience. It is definitely worth every penny!

The Broadcaster is a very well thought out and engineered radio station. It is designed to be truely plug and play, all you need to add to the broadcaster to make amazing shows is a few enthusiastic young people.

Russell Prue and his team provided excellent pre and post sales support. The training session he provided for the school radio team was inspiring and fired them up to get on and do.

Our station is used everyday to create radio content for our station site on www.radiwaves.co.uk. The system is so easy to use that the pupils (primary school) just get on and do it by themselves.

We have even had radio pros from the BBC and local commercial stations comment on how well designed the Broadcaster is and that they wished they had this type of equipment to use.

I would highly recommend that if you want to introduce radio into your school Broadcaster is the best on the market. No hidden extras you get everything you need in the box.

Well done Anderton Tiger for bringing the best kit to the schools market.
