Publisher's description

I give support and training on any aspect of the teaching or organisation of Drama from Early Years to A Level. Sessions can be as diverse as Set Text Masterclass, What Can Drama be for 3 Year olds? Engaging Boys in Writing, Classroom Drama in Primary Schools. Performing Arts integrates the Art forms, again, for all ages.

I have been an AST since 1999. I am a subject specialist and associate consultant to Ofqual, a current Ofsted Inspector and an Early Years Professional Status assessor. For several years, I was a member of the executive for National Drama.

How does this help a school?
Attendance
Drama activities excite pupils, when done well. They don't want to miss lessons or rehearsals.
Careers
Drama activities in a school can be run as a business, with students carrying out most of the functions. I also support vocational courses in the Performing Arts.
Citizenship
It is through Drama that students engage most effectively in the issues and institutions of Citizenship.
Curriculum
Because Drama demands emotional engagement and contextualisation, it is called upon to enrich learning in many areas of the curriculum.
Enrichment
drama is an art form that provides an outlet for expression. It is also a way of contextualising and emotionally engaging in many different aspects of the curriculum and the world beyond.
Exam Results
some workshops are designed to boost understanding of effective examination practice. Aspects in which a teacher may feel less competent can be enriched.
Student Voice
it is often through improvisation and performance work that many people find a voice that is raw and true.
Teaching & Learning
good drama teaching leads the way for any school to improve its ethos and culture. The relationships we forge invite and encourage independent learning and challenge.
