Good reviews make good business, but they don’t appear by themselves - you have to ask all of your customers!

Any listing that receives a review will jump above all non-reviewed listings within the same category, meaning it will be seen first.

You may not currently be running any promotions but by adding a discount or special offer, your listing will receive lots more additional exposure:

• Extra listing on our exclusive Hot Offers page
• Displayed on the hot offers block on the left of the home page
• If you have a Featured Listing, we'll promote your hot offer on our Twitter and Facebook pages

All listings with hot offers are receiving over 100% more pageviews than those without.

It is important to complete as many fields as possible, particularly the ‘How does this help a school’ fields. While this might initially be quite time consuming, it makes it easier for schools to identify just how useful your product or service really is. This also shows you care about your listing and have nothing to hide by answering the questions schools really want to know.

If your listing has been added to the wrong category then it definitely won't attract many clicks. Whilst we check all new listings before they are approved, we don't know your product / service as well as you do so it is important it is in the most relevant category in the directory. You can change your category by editing your listing and amending the category at the top of the edit page.

Did you know that you can submit your listing to more than one category? Instructions on how to do this can be found here. We will, however, remove listings from categories if we think they blatantly don't belong there.

Make sure it includes key words that schools will search for, unique or descriptive attributes, and always check your spelling.

The exact title of your listing is what will appear in search engine results like Google, so it is critical you include descriptive key words. A well optimised title will result in your listing appearing more often and higher up the search engine rankings.

You can add our logo and 'Review us on Innovate My School' button buttonsit to your marketing material (website, social networks, printed leaflets, etc.) to show you are open, honest and happy to accept reviews from your users. We recommend linking to your current reviews and use them as independent testimonials for your website. Let us know if you're doing this so we can send you the code for your website.

You can add up to 25 pictures to your listing giving you the chance to show potential customers what your product actually looks like in more detail. Not only does this improve your listing visually but it shows you have nothing to hide and are your happy to show off your product to all. If you provide an education service rather than a product then add screenshots or pictures of your service in action. For example, if you provide a workshop, add a picture of pupils taking part.

Based on our website reports for 2010-11, listings with lots of pictures received more enquiries than those without. The same goes for listings with videos.

Regular checks on competitor listings allows for better pricing and sales opportunities. More and more schools are using our directory to compare prices and discover new products so you want your listing to be presented the best.
