Being driven by the strength and experience of the A Tale Unfolds team, the cross-curricular project will use the company’s innovative format to deliver an entirely pupil-focused project. Kids will write, shoot and edit a fun short film, with each school’s work culminating in an end-of-term film première, complete with an awards ceremony.
A Tale Unfolds is a half-term long project for KS2 which focuses on dramatically improving levels of writing and digital skills. Designed for the new National Curriculum, it is fully supported with videos, lesson plans, differentiation guides, IWB files, writing frames, templates and more. The only hardware needed is a simple camera (flipcam, tablet / iPad, video camera, etc), and no previous film-making or video-editing experience is necessary.
Teachers can see the impact this project will have first hand by watching A Tale Unfolds’ recent documentary that chronicles the team’s success thus far. Also worth inspecting is the highly-positive feedback left by teachers who have so far invigorated their schools with the film project. A Tale Unfolds have seen an average improvement of at least one sub-level / two APS over the course of the six-seven week project.

The project allows pupils to bring their written and acting skills into computing lessons, while they can enjoy a different kind of homework as they have a go at editing the film. There are free WeVideo class accounts available for every class who wants to take part.
At the end of the project, pupils and staff alike will enjoy a glitzy, glamorous film première, which will feature a video (see below) celebrating the achievements of the school’s young film-makers and digital natives.
