This month we’ll be heading out to Dubai for a major innovation speed dating event - the first of its kind in the Middle East. The event will be taking place on 24th November and will see 16 of the world’s most innovative edtech providers - both leading and up-and-coming - meet with school leaders from international school group GEMS Education at The Kindergarten Starters in Al Garhoud.

We’ve been invited to conduct one of our popular speed dating events during UAE Innovation Week, which will be taking place during 20th - 26th November. UAE Innovation Week is one of the largest innovation initiatives in the world, organised by the United Arab Emirates government and leaders from the private sector to spread a culture of innovation in the UAE, as well as strengthen its position as a global hub for innovation.

“We have pioneered speed dating with 130 school groups and 1,517 schools in the UK, so to be asked to deliver a session for GEMS is, of course, a great honour and incredibly exciting,” said Michael Forshaw, our founder and managing director.

“School leaders are notoriously busy people - whether in the UK or the Middle East - so bringing together the best of British edtech innovations, completely tailored to the needs of the GEMS schools, and at a time and location that suits their calendars, is going to be of great benefit to all involved.”

A wide variety of GEMS school leaders will be in attendance, such as principals, vice-principals, school digital learning leaders, chief digital officers, curriculum directors, teaching and learning leaders. What’s more, we’re actively encouraging schools to bring along a supportive, ‘pro-digital’ member of the parent body.

Phil Redhead, GEMS’ senior manager of digital strategy, said: “GEMS Education is looking forward to the Innovate My School event in Dubai, which we believe will support our ambitious group strategies in the fields of Innovation and Digital Learning. In line with the UAE Vision 2021, GEMS schools are committed to providing a world-class education to all students, with a focus on innovation, technology, STEAM learning and digital pedagogy.

"It is hoped that, by exposing our educators to the best of British edtech solutions through this innovative format, we can further enhance the offering to GEMS students across our network of high-performing schools.”

For any UK and international school groups, Teaching School Alliances and Multi-Academy Trusts that would like to experience their own bespoke speed date session, please email [email protected] or call +44 (0)1244 312 720.
