Ireland’s number one online payment app for schools has officially launched in the UK this week. Way2Pay is an income collection system designed for schools wherein parents can make payments via their mobile phones, and is the first ‘pay by text’ system designed specifically to cater for the education sector in the UK and Ireland. To celebrate this British launch, the company are holding a competition, with £500 and free software as the prize.

Way2Pay creates efficiency around fees and school payments by automating, managing and auditing school payments, integrating with all leading MIS including SIMS. Parents receive a text to their smartphones with a sum for a school activity or event, which they can pay with just a few clicks in less than one minute. With no cost for parents and a minimal cost for schools, Way2Pay offers payment discretion and solves problems such as safety concerns with children when handling money, parents being caught on the spot with no cash and teachers wasting important teaching time collecting cash from pupils. The system can be easily integrated into existing accountancy packages in schools.

"Being faced with the task of collecting money for insurance of iPads, we were delighted to offer the Way2Pay system to our parents,” said Mel McGinley from St Mary’s High School in Downpatrick. “This automated much of the collection, giving us a concise list of all moneys collected."

CEO Denise O’Grady said: “We really wanted to make life easier for schools and parents. Smartphones have become an indispensable part of our daily lives and we know convenience is at the forefront of every busy parent’s mind. We utilised that to build and design an innovative online payment solution for schools.

“We developed Way2Pay from industry demand; we have already won seven out of seven Irish government contracts, which really proves the popularity of the system with schools and parents alike.”

To mark this major introduction to the UK, the Irish innovators are running a competition whereby any UK school can be entered to win £500 prize draw by trialling the software for free. The trial has no commitment involved, as Way2Pay are seeking UK feedback as much as anything else. All schools need to do is visit the company website and click Book A Free Trial. The competition is open until the end of July.
