Historic Royal Palaces (HRP) is bringing history to life through its schools’ programme, designed to excite and inspire teachers and pupils through high quality learning experiences. HRP look after six major palaces in the UK, including the Tower of London, Hampton Court Palace and Kensington Palace. The schools’ programme welcomes school visits from all over the world, helping students to explore the story of how monarchs and people have shaped society, in some of the greatest palaces ever built.

Pobble, the prize-winning global literacy initiative, has recently launched a new tool to facilitate lesson planning. Pobble Resources allows teachers to search content providers on Pobble and find the best teaching resources. They can then prepare the most engaging lessons easily, and share their lesson ideas, making collaborative planning really easy.

To mark London EdTech Week, the British Educational Suppliers Association (BESA) has published a report on how the impact of edtech is currently measured in the classroom. The report features survey work undertaken by the National Education Research Panel (NERP) on ICT leaders and decision-makers from 454 Primary schools and 252 Secondary schools in England.

Innovate My School, sector leader in providing schools across the UK with the latest education resources, are inviting school leaders to the Innovate My School LIVE roadshow. This newly-announced series of events will bring the organisation’s pioneering speed dates to innovative schools across the UK from July 2017. Each will focus on how schools today are doing more with less, as well as how they can continue to innovate in spite of squeezed budgets. During each Innovate My School LIVE event, leaders from each region will be introduced to 10 of the most exciting innovators in the education sector.

The British Educational Suppliers Association (BESA) have launched the Resource Our Schools campaign, an initiative working to ensure that every school across the UK has access to the resources they require for first-rate teaching and learning. The campaign has already attracted support from the National Association of Head Teachers (NAHT) and numerous subject associations. Innovate My School are also supporting the initiative, fitting in with our mission to aid teachers by sharing much-needed school resources.

In recognition of school’s embracing technology in and out of the classroom on a day-to-day basis, the team at SISRA have been working on a number of improvements to their Observe service for monitoring the quality of teaching and learning. One of the major new features is the Focus Area report, which allows schools to perform detailed analysis of a particular aspect of teaching.

The Premier League has launched Premier League Primary Stars, a national curriculum-linked education programme which uses the appeal of the Premier League and professional football clubs to inspire children to learn, be active and develop important life skills.

The UK education system has always expected a lot from its schools, but in the last few years, this has seemingly intensified further, with teacher workloads increasing, guidelines changing and policies updating rapidly and frequently in a bid to improve standards. But with these changes has also come an evolution in the technology at our disposal, helping to streamline processes, and bringing everyone together in a whole-school drive for improvement.
