VEX IQ, our tool-less, snap-together robotics system aimed at KS 2 & 3 is designed from the ground up to provide endless opportunity for future engineers of all skill levels. Advancing from this is VEX EDR, catered towards a higher level of learning, providing a versatile, robust construction kit. This easy-to-use system enables effective learning for both beginners and experts, ranging from Primary school right through to Secondary school and university. Both platforms are fully programmable for autonomous operation using our free software, from the scratch-like Modkit to the industry standard ROBOTC and Python options. Additional free CAD software through our partnership with Autodesk allows every student to digitally design, model and prototype robots on screen. We provide the right tools to deliver an all-round educational experience.
VEX also offers a completely free curriculum-mapped across Design & Technology, Engineering and Computer Science which means our kits can be used in the classroom as well as part of the extra-curricular VEX IQ Challenge and VEX Robotics Competition. Over 150 hours of curriculum include everything a teacher needs to deliver using the VEX platforms – Schemes of Work, Lesson Plans and all of the supporting presentations, handouts and worksheets. The VEX Robotics Competition is the largest and fastest-growing Middle and High school robotics competition in the world, with over 18,000 teams and 1300 events held each year all over the globe.
Regional events take place across UK from July through to February, culminating at the UK National Final, where students compete to become the UK Champions and gain a place at the VEX Robotics World Championships in Louisville, Kentucky. Involvement in the competition develops key skills in competitors including teamwork, time management, perseverance and most of all make STEM an exciting and fun experience for all.
It is well documented that not enough students are choosing STEM-related career paths to meet the growing national demand for jobs in these areas. VEX offers teachers a different way to approach the delivery of STEM subjects which can help in getting students excited and inspired about their futures. We work with a range of educational institutions from state-funded schools and academies to free schools and UTC’s, each have taken VEX and made it their own to suit their curricula.
The world faces an unprecedented need for new innovators, thinkers and problem solving leaders. Our goal is to create engaging, affordable and powerful solutions that immerse students in STEM through the excitement of designing, building and programming robots.
