Simplifying safeguarding across Ebor Academy Trust [case study]

CPOMS

CPOMS is the market-leading software application for monitoring child protection, safeguarding and a whole range of pastoral and welfare issues. Working alongside a school’s existing safeguarding processes, CPOMS is an intuitive system to help with the management and recording of child protection, behavioural issues, bullying, special educational needs, domestic issues and much, much more. Using CPOMS, schools can ensure that students are safe and fully supported, whilst school staff can focus on teaching and providing support, instead of administration.

When it comes to record-keeping and safeguarding across a multi-academy trust (MAT), information can get lost in the day-to-day. Here, safeguarding lead Rebecca McGuinn discusses the solution that fixed this issue for Ebor Academy Trust in Yorkshire:

“I know from previous experience that as a designate school safeguarding lead, it's those adhoc school corridor conversations that often don't get captured, or those scraps of paper that get lost.

“As the lead on behaviour, safeguarding and wellbeing for our MAT, I can wholeheartedly recommend CPOMS. It's a simple, yet effective system. Having this quick and easy online portal allows you to signpost everyone to one central point, ensuring accurate and timely records are kept.

“CPOMS takes all the worry about accurate record-keeping away, as the system is so easy to use, it encourages that accurate and smart records are always kept. The staff find it straightforward to use. The school leadership, meanwhile, find it a reliable and efficient in terms of having a secure central point of access for all the concerns that get raised about children.

“Multi-agency meetings, SEN reviews, monitoring and tracking, parent meetings all of the above are made so much easier and manageable due to having all of the information to hand in one consistent mechanism.

“As the lead for the MAT on CPOMS, I can also strongly advocate for the customer care that I receive. I have one person who I regularly liaise with, someone who is friendly efficient and professional. If I need any technical help or support, that is readily available. Knowing that I am able to generate reports, and pull up information in whichever way I need to according to the purpose, is such a wonderful piece of mind.

“Safeguarding is such a serious responsibility, and where that responsibility becomes too onerous is when you don't have accurate records that are filed and up-to-date. Provided your whole-school approach is to ensure all staff are aligned with the core purpose of this system, the headache is completely alleviated as a leader.”
