Teachers making TM Oxford - 15/12/16 - part of their Christmas plans

TeachMeet

TeachMeets are free events where educators gather to share tips, resources, stories and more. These gathering tend to include hot drinks and edibles, and all boast a friendly, collaborative, encouraging tone. Teachers are encouraged to get involved as presenters, so that they can share best practise with their eager peers.

This December, teachers and school leaders from across the UK will head to Oxford’s Cheney School for #TMOxford. Taking place on Thursday 15th December and organised by assistant head Amjad Ali, this annual, nationally-trending Christmas TeachMeet is returning for the fourth time, and once again attendees will be treated to a wealth of top-shelf speakers. Innovate My School are proud to be one of the sponsors for this event with a small selection of prizes, and each delegate will receive a copy of the newly-released IMS Guide 2016/17.

Veteran educator Sir Tim Brighouse will be opening up this year’s TMOxford with his words of encouragement and wisdom. Keynote speakers to follow are:

  • Natalie Scott (@NatalieHScott) of WomenED, who will be discussing assessment, marking, homework and book work.
  • Literacy advisor and international speaker Jaz Ampaw-Farr (@jazampawfar), who will be sharing tips for the enhancement of literacy and numeracy skills
  • Marc Rowland (@NatEDtrust_Marc), whose session will be looking at supporting the progress of vulnerable, PP and SEND students.
  • Isabella Wallace (@WallaceIsabella), 'Pimp Your Lesson!' author and ‘Poundland Pedagogy’ creator, presenting a keynote entitled ‘Agile Teaching practice – classroom approaches’.

Principal and author Vic Goddard (@VicGoddard) will be closing the TeachMeet with his passion, enthusiasm and experience. The free-of-charge event will take place from 16:00 - 19:30, starting with an hour of refreshments. As part of the festive spirit, attendees will be treated to mince pies, mulled wine, a choir and “an all-round wintery feeling courtesy” of 4Matrix and London Leadership Strategy.

“TeachMeet Oxford is a really special event; a place for educators in all sectors to come together to share ideas and strategies which work in their settings for their students,” said Amjad, who is also the founder of online teaching toolkit trythisteaching.com. “The role of the participant is to refine and shape these ideas into their own practice, in a peer-to-peer sharing platform packed full of teaching and learning ideas - all for free!”
