Each filmed session includes lesson plans, feedback, and supporting materials to help teachers get real insight into different teaching practices. Schools are able to study the material in detail, reflect on good points, discuss areas for improvement, and relate these to their own teaching.
“We are very pleased to be working with IRIS Connect to make our resources available online,” said Mediamerge director Andrej Dethlefsen. “For schools it means that the observations and resources are more accessible. Individuals or staff groups can view our lesson observations and CPD resources anywhere at any time, allowing flexible use to prepare for, deliver, or review training.
“I believe that looking at the practice of peers is vitally important to teachers’ professional development. As a teacher, I recognised the need for well-recorded lessons, to begin with, simply because I wanted to see what a more experienced teacher was doing, and learn from it.”
Thousands of schools, along with leading training providers, the Department for Education and Ofsted use Mediamerge resources to deliver high-impact training, which helps to improve teaching standards and learning outcomes. Mediamerge lesson observations are now available on IRIS Connect.
Andrej added: “With a background in video production and teaching, I decided to create a series of observations as I would want them filmed, real lessons, not staged, with a real focus on learning. It is hard to believe that now hundreds of thousands of teachers view our videos every year!”
