Night Zookeeper is a creative writing and learning platform that provides Primary teachers with a motivational, literacy game alongside a library of interactive lessons on every subject. It is currently being used in over 2,000 schools in the UK and the feedback it has received so far has been overwhelmingly positive.
“There are a number of tools out there that help children with their reading, but writing platforms have been significantly under-served,” said Night Zookeeper education director Paul Hutson. “Night Zookeeper has been developed to address this gap by inspiring creativity in children, while refining their core reading and writing skills, through a fun and engaging online tool. We’re delighted to have been accepted onto the Social Tech Seed programme and look forward to working with Nominet Trust to develop our technology and ultimately ensure that children of all abilities are granted the same opportunities.”
Vicki Hearn, director of Nominet Trust, said: “Night Zookeeper has already captured the imagination of schoolchildren everywhere, through an exciting online fantasy world that inspires them to write and draw. We’re very pleased to be funding a new auto-assessment feature for the platform which will help identify and support children with dyslexia, while helping every child to assess their strengths and weaknesses to produce their very best writing.”
Night Zookeeper is one of nine social tech enterprises which have been selected by Nominet Trust to take part in its Social Tech Seed programme. Social Tech Seed is an open grant-funding programme that offers entrepreneurial organisations early-stage investment to develop innovative projects harnessing the power of the internet and digital technologies to deliver significant social change. Over the course of 18 months, Nominet Trust will support Night Zookeeper in developing its product to demonstrate the positive impact it can have on children’s learning.
