Teachers across the UK are using an innovative resource to remove the burden of lesson planning by making collaborative planning and sharing schemes of work easy, wherever they are based. Lumici Slate frees teachers to focus on delivering engaging lessons that their pupils enjoy. Teachers are allocated responsibility for planning schemes of work (either partial or complete), which the rest of the team can access and easily adapt to their own class. This is particularly useful for teachers across multi-academy trusts or teaching school alliances. Because Lumici Slate is online, planning together can be virtual.

What makes this program different? Because Lumici Slate was designed by a former teacher, Atif Mahmood, it focusses on the making and sharing of lessons easier, simpler and faster, with collaboration at the core.

“Unlike a VLE, Lumici Slate can be instantly adopted by staff, as it’s so easy to use and needs no training,” said Peter Kilkoyne, ILT manager at Worcestershire College. “It’s incredibly useful for staff in different locations.”

This is a resource that makes collaborative planning straightforward across teams in different schools. It includes high-quality assets and makes resource-sharing straightforward, saving teachers more time. Teachers are given the choice whether to deliver the lesson online or face-to-face, while still ensuring that all planning materials and resources are held in one place.

Lumici Slate enables heads of department, and those responsible for teaching and learning, to quality-assure lesson content and pupil progress across multiple schools. Mentors and tutors can support trainee and newly-qualified teachers, too.
